PWRFL prevails in hard-fought police shooting case.

After eight years of litigation, including two Ninth Circuit opinions and a U.S. Supreme Court opinion, a U.S. Supreme Court denial of a writ of certiorari finally ended the matter.

PWRFL attorney Leonard Feldman secured a significant appellate victory in a police shooting case, which have become increasingly difficult to win.

PWRFL clients Angel and Jennifer Mendez were shot by police after the police unlawfully entered the Mendezes’ home without a warrant and saw Mr. Mendez holding a BB gun.

Following a bench trial, a judge awarded over $4 million in damages.  The Ninth Circuit twice upheld the judgment.  The Supreme Court vacated the Ninth Circuit’s first opinion, but let the second opinion stand.  An L.A. Times article regarding the litigation can be found here.
