APPELLATE PRACTICE

PWRFL is experienced in handling significant appeals at all levels of federal and state courts.

PWRFL’s lead Appellate Specialist, Jeanette Petersen, has worked closely with federal and state courts. Experienced in both trial and appellate litigation, Jeanette began her career clerking for the Washington State Court of Appeals, the Washington State Supreme Court, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

PWRFL partner Felix G. Luna has argued numerous times before all three divisions of the Washington State Court of Appeals and also the Washington State Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals of the Ninth Circuit. This experience can, in some cases, make the difference between winning and losing on appeal.

We recognize the unique demands of appellate courts and are highly skilled in providing concise and forceful written briefs, along with delivering persuasive oral arguments. PWRFL is available for consultation or a lead role in your appellate matters. And although the heart of any appellate practice is handling appeals, there are very significant benefits to having PWRFL’s appellate team assist before and during trial. By working closely with your trial team, we can ensure that issues are properly preserved for appeal and that the trial court record includes all evidence necessary to sustain such arguments.

We can also assist with substantive briefing and argument, as well as handle the appeal, both efficiently and effectively, without distracting the trial team from more pressing tasks.

In appropriate cases, PWRFL will handle appeals on a contingent fee or fixed fee basis.
